Planning Workshops Underway in Rwanda for Rwanda Peace Education Program

USC Shoah Foundation’s director of research and documentation, Karen Jungblut, and director of education, Kori Street, are currently in Rwanda at a week-long design workshop for the Rwanda Peace Education Program (RPEP). RPEP aims to strengthen Rwanda’s capacity for a united and inclusive future through memorialization and a multi-faceted peace-building education program.

At the workshop in Kigali, RPEP partners are meeting to prepare for the program’s implementation and evaluation. When it launches, RPEP will include a traveling exhibition, peace-making teacher training, outreach to schools, public performances, the collection of audiovisual testimonies and youth leadership programs..

RPEP is funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) and led by Aegis Trust in partnership with USC Shoah Foundation, Rwanda’s Institute of Research and Dialogue for Peace and Radio La Benevolencija. Supporting partners include the Rwanda Development Board (IT), the Netherlands Institute for Genocide and Holocaust Studies and the University of Texas Libraries.
