Teachers Learn About IWitness at Rwanda Peace Education Training
Forty educators in Rwanda attended workshops on using IWitness in peace education in Kigali this month, with another workshop scheduled for later this week.
The workshops, titled “Advanced Use of Multimedia in Peace Education,” were held at the University of Rwanda’s College of Education in Kigali Nov. 19-20 and 24-25. The educators who attended have already participated in IWitness trainings through the Institute of Research and Dialogue for Peace (IRDP) or Aegis Trust at Kigali Genocide Memorial.
The workshops were led by USC Shoah Foundation/Aegis Trust staff in Rwanda, including Rwandan Education Administrator Rose Twagiramariya. Participants learned strategies for incorporating survivor testimonies from IWitness into their classroom lessons on genocide, empathy, peace-building and more.
