Call for Applications: Sandy and Steve Cozen Graduate Top-Off Fellowship 2025
The Division of Academic Programs at the USC Shoah Foundation invites applications for its Sandy and Steve Cozen Graduate Top-Off Fellowship for the 2025-2026/ 2026-2027 academic years.
One outstanding, advanced-level PhD candidate in any discipline and from any school or department at the University of Southern California will be chosen for this fellowship, which will facilitate completion of their doctoral dissertation. The top-off fellowship will provide $4,000 support per academic year for two consecutive years.
Eligibility requirements: Candidates must be currently enrolled in a PhD program at USC and be at an advanced stage in writing their dissertation. The incumbent’s research must utilize oral or visual history testimony and be situated in one of the following fields: Holocaust and Genocide Studies, Antisemitism Studies, Memory Studies, History, or Humanitarianism and Human Rights. Candidates must also have already received full departmental and/ or university support equivalent to a 50% graduate assistantship. The Cozen Top-Off Fellowship
This fellowship is awarded on a competitive basis. Applications must be submitted no later than midnight PT on January 15, 2025. Please email your materials to Dr. Jennifer L. Rodgers, Director of Academic Programs, with the subject line “(Your Surname): Cozen Top-Off Fellowship.” Referees should also email their statement to Dr. Rodgers. Complete applications consist of the following:
- Letter of Intent (max one page)
- Dissertation prospectus approved by their dissertation committee OR draft dissertation chapter
- Curriculum vitae
- Statement from dissertation advisor which explains how the fellowship will facilitate a timely and successful completion of the candidate’s dissertation
Please note: only applications that have submitted all of the required materials will be considered for these fellowships. Applicants will be notified of the outcome by February 1, 2025. Fellowship recipients will receive their award beginning in the fall term of 2025.
