Visual History Archive Featured in New Book

Professor Andrea Pető of Central European University in Budapest has written an article about how to use USC Shoah Foundation’s Visual History Archive in teaching students at the graduate level. The piece appears as a chapter in the seventh volume of Jewish Studies at the Central European University edited by András Kovács and Michael Laurence Miller.

Pető, whose field is gender studies, has utilized the Visual History Archive ever since the university became an access point for the archive in 2009. She writes, “Exercises related to this collection have been a part of my teaching of qualitative methods, gendered memory of the Holocaust, and political violence and war.”

Central European University was established in 1991 with the stated aim of helping the process of transition from dictatorship to democracy in Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia. It offers graduate-level curricula in the social sciences, humanities, law, management, and public policy. Courses are taught in English.  It is one of 44 sites around the world that has full access to the Visual History Archive.
