Brian L. Roberts Receives Ambassador for Humanity Award

Chairman and CEO of Comcast honored at Institute’s annual gala

On Monday, May 9, the USC Shoah Foundation Institute presented Comcast Chairman and CEO Brian L. Roberts with its highest honor, the Ambassador for Humanity award. Roberts was recognized for his visionary leadership and philanthropic work in education and technology.

Steven Spielberg, Founder of the USC Shoah Foundation Institute, presented Roberts with the award before a packed audience of more than 600 people at the Institute’s annual gala, which took place in the Renaissance Ballroom of the Loews Hotel in Roberts’ hometown of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

In addition to a special musical performance by Jon Bon Jovi, who performed “Livin’ on a Prayer” and “Who Says You Can’t Go Home,” the evening featured moving presentations by Jonathan Young, a member of the Institute’s Teacher Innovation Network and a graduate of the Master Teacher Program; high school student Yalonda Cooper, who participated in the 2-day IWitness institute held in partnership with One Economy Corporation; and high school student Victoria Moyzis, a winner of Chapman University’s 2011 Holocaust Art and Writing Contest.
