Solomon Schechter Day School of Bergen County Becomes USC Shoah Foundation Partner School
USC Shoah Foundation has partnered with its first Jewish day school – Solomon Schechter Day School of Bergen County in New Jersey – to introduce teachers to methods of teaching with testimony and incorporate the Institute's educational materials into the school curriculum.
In accordance with USC Shoah Foundation’s partner school program, Institute education staff will introduce teachers at Solomon Schechter to the methodology of teaching with testimony and its latest educational resources, including IWitness. These professional development trainings will be virtual and in person, with the first teacher training at the school scheduled for October.
Solomon Schechter faculty will also work with USC Shoah Foundation to pilot at least two new testimony-based classroom activities or modules in the first year of the partnership, and integrate them into the school’s social studies curriculum.
Solomon Schechter joins a growing list of USC Shoah Foundation partner schools around the world, including Windward School and Valhalla High School in Southern California and five schools in Hungary.
