History of USC Shoah Foundation Comes to Life in New Timeline

Ever wonder what date USC Shoah Foundation held its first teacher-training workshop, or who was the first recipient of the Ambassadors for Humanity award? Have you ever wanted to know all of the Institute’s major accomplishments in a given year since its founding in 1994?

Now, you can find all this information and more with a few clicks of a mouse on USC Shoah Foundation’s new online interactive timeline that chronicles its entire history.  It can be found by clicking About Us on the top right of the website.

The first date on the timeline is March 1, 1993, the first day of principal photography on Schindler’s List in Krakow, Poland. The timeline currently ends on Oct. 11, 2015, the second conference of the Center for Advanced Genocide Research. New events will be added to the timeline as they occur.

The timeline documents the dates of every important milestone and achievement, from the premieres of the Institute’s early documentaries to recent headlines like honoring President Barack Obama as the 2014 Ambassador for Humanity and launching new testimony collections. It also includes less-well-known milestones like the first multinational interviewer training session in Amsterdam on Jan. 25, 1995, and the start of development on an IWitness prototype on Jan. 1, 2009.
