IWitness Workshop at 9th Annual Charlotte and Jacques Wolf Educators’ Conference on Echoes and Reflections

Educators from around the country will learn about IWitness at the 9th annual Charlotte and Jacques Wolf Educators’ Conference on Echoes and Reflections this week in New York City.

Lesly Culp, USC Shoah Foundation Senior Education Specialist and Trainer, delivered an introductory IWitness workshop for the participants during the week-long program. Teachers were introduced to the IWitness website, activities, testimony clips, and strategies for incorporating IWitness into their classroom lessons in conjunction with Echoes and Reflections.

The Wolf Conference, organized by ADL and Echoes and Reflections, invites accepted applicants to New York City for five days to learn from Holocaust and genocide experts and scholars, meet and hear from Holocaust survivors, and model active and collaborative learning while exploring interdisciplinary lessons in Echoes and Reflections.

The participants can also network with dedicated educators interested in teaching about the Holocaust and genocide, tour New York City’s Museum of Jewish Heritage

 And receive a copy of Echoes and Reflections, including a DVD with over 2 hours of testimony from the Visual History Archive.

Echoes and Reflections, a no-cost professional development program for secondary educators, offers primary sources, informational texts, and visual history testimony from witnesses to help teach about the Holocaust and address academic standards, including Common Core Standards. IWitness complements Echoes and Reflections, featuring over 1,300 video testimonies from its Visual History Archive and allowing teachers and their students to search, watch, and learn directly from the eyewitnesses to history, including the individuals who are featured in Echoes and Reflections.
