Stephen Smith to Give Lecture at Jewish Community Centre London
USC Shoah Foundation Executive Director Stephen Smith will give a lecture on the Visual History Archive, New Dimensions in Testimony and the future of survivor testimony at the Jewish Community Centre London (JW3) on Wednesday, February 8.
Smith’s lecture is JW3’s annual Spiro Tribute Lecture, sponsored by the Pears Foundation. It celebrates the work of Robin and Nitza Spiro and their contribution to Jewish cultural life in Britain over the last 30 years.
The Pears Foundation is a longtime supporter of USC Shoah Foundation, including its New Dimensions in Testimony program.
In his lecture, Smith will focus on survivor testimony, particularly the 54,000 testimonies in USC Shoah Foundation’s Visual History Archive, and how the human component prevails in the digital world.
JW3 is the first Jewish Community Centre and arts venue of its kind to exist in London. It opened in 2013 and merged with the London Jewish Cultural Centre in 2015. The aim of JW3 is to transform the Jewish landscape in London by helping to create a vibrant, diverse and proud community, inspired by and engaged in Jewish arts, culture and community.
The lecture is 7:30-9 p.m. at JW3, 341-351 Finchley Road, London. Tickets are £10.
