Jewish Motorcyclists Alliance Features New Dimensions in Testimony at Ride 2 Remember
After hundreds of motorcyclists ride through Rhode Island on June 9, they will sit down to a Shabbat dinner and learn about USC Shoah Foundation’s New Dimensions in Testimony.
This unique event is the Jewish Motorcyclists Alliance (JMA)’s annual Ride 2 Remember, a gathering of motorcycling enthusiasts from around the country to remember the Holocaust and raise money for Holocaust education programs at schools, community centers and universities around the world.
Proceeds from this year’s ride (which includes a raffle for a Harley Davidson) will go to the Sandra Bornstein Holocaust Education Center in Providence, Rhode Island. The Center and JMA hope the money raised will contribute to the cost of bringing a New Dimensions in Testimony exhibit to the Center.
To introduce ride participants to New Dimensions in Testimony and USC Shoah Foundation, USC Shoah Foundation Senior Director of Programs and Operations Kori Street will give a keynote presentation and demonstration of NDT at the Shabbat dinner following the ride.
The Sandra Bornstein Holocaust Education Center includes a presentation space, garden and library. It hosts local survivor speakers and other presentations for school groups, teacher workshops, a student art and writing contest, Holocaust memorial services, and more.
New Dimensions in Testimony (NDT) is USC Shoah Foundation’s interactive testimony project that allows viewers to have a conversation with a recorded image of a Holocaust survivor. The testimony of Pinchas Gutter, the first survivor to film an interview for NDT, offers viewers the chance to engage in a conversation with Pinchas’s recorded image that closely mirrors the experience of speaking with him in person.
NDT is currently on display at Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center, Holocaust Museum Houston, Sarah and Chaim Neuberger Holocaust Education Center in Toronto, and CANDLES Holocaust Museum in Indiana.
In Illinois, the exhibit also includes the testimonies of Aaron Elster, Fritzie Fritzshall and Sam Harris – the next three of over a dozen survivors whose NDT testimonies are currently in various stages of testing and development.
