Deadline for 2018 Summer Junior Internship extended to May 11

Fri, 05/04/2018 - 2:12pm

The USC Shoah Foundation is looking for students in 7th– 12th grades who are interested in participating in its highly competitive William P. Lauder Junior Internship Program. The program provides a dynamic and unique learning opportunity for students to engage with testimonies – personal stories – from survivors and witnesses of genocide.

“[The Junior Intern Program] has opened my eyes and my mind. My eyes to how history has repeated itself over and over again, which baffles me. My mind to what others had to say and their views on the tough challenges we tackle together.”

“… I have shifted my perspective on being active in my community. I was somewhat intimidated to stand up for others before joining this program, and I have gained an incredible sense of confidence in my own abilities to combat intolerance over the past two years. “

Through this program, participants will have the opportunity to

  • Develop an understanding of different types of memory,
  • Deepen proficiency in digital literacy and improve communication skills.
  • Learn on the University of Southern California’s campus at USC Shoah Foundation

Through these activities, William P. Lauder Junior Interns will think about what it means to be a responsible participant in civil society as they develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to believe they have a role in creating positive change in their own lives and communities.
