Watch Moderated Discussion with International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance Friday, June 17

Join USC Shoah Foundation for an informative conversation with International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA)’s Executive Secretary Kathrin Meyer, PhD, on Friday, June 17 in USC’s Leavey Library.

The talk will be held in Leavey Library’s auditorium on the lower level from 1-2 p.m. It is free and open to the public. USC Shoah Foundation will also broadcast the event live on its Facebook page.

The International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) is an intergovernmental body whose purpose is to place political and social leaders’ support behind the need for Holocaust education, remembrance and research both nationally and internationally. IHRA currently has 31 member countries, ten observer countries and seven Permanent International Partners; USC Shoah Foundation is part of the United States delegation.

At the event on Friday, Meyer and USC Shoah Foundation Director of Education Kori Street will discuss global approaches to Holocaust, genocide and human rights education, research and remembrance.

The discussion will highlight the roles of education and witness testimony, exploring what it means to consider memory within an international framework that includes diverse geographical boundaries, policies, communities, and histories.

This week, Meyer and IHRA Communication Officer Laura Robertson are visiting USC Shoah Foundation in Los Angeles to learn more about the Institute’s work.

USC Shoah Foundation staff recently returned from the IHRA bi-annual plenary meeting in Bucharest.
